70's much?

See below pictures from a shoot in Marie Claire Italia August. It stars Tanga Moreau and it was shot by Txema Yeste. The colors are very nice and he scenes as well. But I think that it looks more like my mom's old pictures rather than a fashion shoot. I mean, I'm all for the 70's influence and all but you still need to put your 2011 spin into both the shoots and the pieces. Do not hesitate to tell me if you think I'm wrong.

Are you kidding me with the Gucci Dress

This is a shoot from Harper's Bazaar Turkey July. And you see the Gucci Dress. You must remember my previous posts about this Gucci Dress (click and click). Is it me or is this dress is just seen too much and is becoming boring? I get it, orange and purple oh the colors of the season and oh color blocking great etc but come on. Enough is enough. Maybe it's because the fashion editors can't find good dresses or it's because they're just too lazy to look. This season we have been bombarded with the white Dolce Gabbana Dress, the stripes of Prada and this. And I'm just glad we will be seeing new things soon.

The Resort 2012 Collection of Miu Miu is out. I am undecided. It's a bit too between 80's and 90's. With the lace gloves and everything. I cannot exactly say I'm a big fan of it. But, there are of course some looks which I really like. Let's see...

Anyhow, talking about time, it's the Annual Age Issue of Vogue this month and the shoots for the theme are just wonderful. The other main theme of this month's issue is Sarah Jessica Parker, whom we adore. (Nazlı's adoration can also be called pure love.) (check her post ) So, needless to say, here are the best shoots for the Age Issue (SJP not included)...

Finally, something that merges Law and Fashion

Ok, oil paint washed from hands, ready to surf through my favorite sites. I see an article in the nytimes blog site. Knockoffs vs. the real deal (the name of the Article is Designers Revisit Copyright Protection). The Article talks about what many of the designers supported in 2006 for copyright protection and the fact that many of those designers are planning on revisiting the Congress for another attempt.

So, I went back to 2006 and read what the hell happened in 2006. As many of you know, there are two types of items in fashion, the real deal and the steal (which is "inspired" from the real deal). While designers like Proenza Schouler, Zac Posen, Diane von Furstenberg are making pieces for $1,000, the same ones can be found at Zara, H&M and the Gap for not more than $50. While for some giving a $1,000 for a shirt can be too much and shops such as Zara and the Gap are probably their best choice, it may not seem so beneficial for the designers. They know that while some of their customers would always buy from their brands, there are people all around the world who are buying the same shirt for $50. Which also inspires the Steal vs. Splurge part of Marie Claire Magazine (which I presume Diane personally hates).

Accordingly, these designers want their designs to be protected under the copyright law just as a book or a song would be.

ABS Dresses

Article on NY Times states that this steal case has even gone further, with the brand ABS which is making the same dresses as Zac Posen, Elie Saab and even the wedding dress of Catherine Middleton. ABS has always been under the spotlight of brand designers says the Article but the wedding dress has made the CFDA Designers to want to visit the Congress once more.

One of the one thousand reasons why we love Karl Lagerfeld

Before we went to Paris, my step dad said that he once saw Karl Lagerfeld at Café de Flore. His exact words was (and believe me I am not kidding) "I once saw that designer with that ponytail and the gloves." I said "That's Karl Lagerfeld!!!"! I don't understand why he gets to see him and I don't!  He is legendary designer, photographer and businessman. And in everything he does, he manages to surprise us. Since I've started attending IMA, I understood that to be a designer, you need to have a certain capability for photography. But his capability is of course beyond what I am talking about. He shot the 2011 Pirelli Calendar with the theme Mythology and it was great. When I was going through Fashion Gone Rouge today, I saw this Campaign Shoot for Fendi shot by Karl himself. And it is one of the best Campaign shoots so far. He does not need my saying so but hats off to Karl.

(Paris'e gitmeden önce, üvey babam bir keresinde Café de Flore'da Karl Lagerfeld'i gördüğünü söyledi. Kelimeleri tam olarak (ve emin olun şaka değil) "Bi keresinde o at kuyruklu ve eldivenli designer adamı gördüm"dü. Ben "O Karl Lagerfeld!!!" dedim! Onu neden ben değil o görebildi cidden anlamıyorum! Karl, efsanevi tasarımcı, fotoğrafçı ve iş adamı. Ve yaptığı herşeyde bizi bir kere daha şaşırtmayı başarıyor. IMA'ya başladıktan sonra anladım ki, iyi bir moda tasarımcısı olabilmek için belli bir fotoğraf yeteneğine de sahip olmak gerekiyor. Ancak, Karl'ın yeteneği benim bahsettiğimden çok daha fazla. 2011 Pirelli Takvimini Mitoloji temasıyla çekti ve tam anlamıyla muhteşemdi. Bugün Fashion Gone Rouge'da gezinirken, Karl tarafından çekilmiş bu Fendi Campaign çekimini gördüm. Ve bu sezon gördüğüm çekimler arasında en güzellerinden biri. Benim bunu dememe ihtiyacı yok ama Karl muhteşem.)

You know, I am currently attending IMA and we have been given an assignment. We each choose a theme based on circles. And my theme is ferris wheels. Yes you've heard it right, ferris wheels! I don't know why I choose such a theme but I have been having the most fun this past week. I even dug out my old oil paints. I am not going to show you what I've done so far, I want it to be a final piece before I show it off. But no worries, it will end on Wednesday. A preview (a photo that I photoshoped)...

The new Campaign Shoot for Balenciaga is a-mazing. I really like the colors used and the background. The thing I like the most is the shoes. These shoes have been seen around town. However I like the blue ones better than the red ones. I can't decide whether I like the shoot the best or the shoes :) Check them out!

Please don't wear that celebs

I have nothing against the Kardashian sisters really. They just tend to give me a lot of material. See this photo of Kourtney Kardashian. We understand she got herself an orange Birkin. But once you get behind the Birkin, you see the jumpsuit that is just so wrong. When I see people dressed like her, I ask myself, "Don't these people a) have a mirror at their house b) anyone around them that loves them?". If she was my sister, hell even if I saw her walking down the street I would do her a favor and say "Please don't wear that!". And the Louboutins with that jumpsuit just doesn't go, well nothing would go with that jumpsuit but whatever..

Dolce & Gabbana is one of the most famous luxury brands. The designers are among the most talented. However, they have managed to make this hideous dress. They have not only made this dress, they also found it worth selling. AND they thought it was worth € 1,800. Heidi would have been so happy that one of the trendsetting brands made her a dress. For those who think I'm wrong, you can find the Swedish folk Dolce & Gabbana dress at netaporter.

The thing I like the most about these shoes is the vibrant color and also them being both sporty and chic with skinny pants.

Hollywood greeting William and Kate

Since their beautiful wedding, the world has been following every step of Kate and William. William has always been under the spotlight but it must be admitted that after his marriage to Kate, they have become celebrity royalty (see the irony?) Anyhow, their visits to all over has been watched, commented on and blogged about (click). The most anticipated visit of theirs was of course their planned visit to California. On Saturday, they attended the BAFTA Brits to Watch Gala - and they did so in style. Kate rocked the red carpet in an Alexander Mcqueen gown like nobody did. And of course, our good old celebrities were there as well. Everybody who is a somebody attended the gala. While some of the ladies looked great, some unfortunately thought they were going to a day-time children's movie gala.

Ve tabiki bizim eski ünlülerimiz de ordalardı. Birisi olan herkes galaya katıldı. Bazı hanımlar muhteşem görünürken, bazılıarı bir çocuk filminin gündüz galasına katılıyormuşçasına giyinmişlerdi.

I'm sorry, you might think I've gone mad

But, I want these shoes with these socks. :) When Burberry introduced me to socks with sandals in 2008, I hated it. I thought this is bad. But I guess you never know what you might want come 3 years. (I hated Converses when I was in high school.) Wearing sandals with socks is quite the old news now, but you can still spice up the old friend with some crazy matches. See some of mine! Hopefully you might see me wandering down the street looking like this.

From House to Hot!

I don't now where you know Olivia Wilde from but I know her from House. Since Olivia stared starring in House, a lot has changed. She is now an A-lister and not only a TV actress anymore. Since she starred in Tron Legacy she has been getting a lot of attention. And after that gorgeous Marchesa gown she wore to the Golden Globes, she certainly has my attention. In this shoot for Marie Claire US August, she looks amazing. What I liked the most about this shoot is the lighting used. And the fact that they have used New York as a simple background, as if I was a poster. And Olivia, she looks especially great in the green Pucci dress.

(Olivia Wilde'ı siz nerden tanırsınız bilemem ama ben House sayesinde tanıdım. Olivia House'da oynadığı günden beri çok şey değişti. Kendisi dizi oyuncusundan Hollywood A-listesinde taşınmış durumda. Bu Marie Claire US Ağustos çekiminde harika görünüyor. Bu çekimde en sevdiğim şey ise özellikle ışılandırması. Ayrıca, New York'un arka plan, sanki bir postermiş gibi olarak kullanılması da çok hoşuma gitti. Ve Olivia yeşil Pucci elbise ile muhteşem görünüyor.)
