Will Christian Louboutin lose its trademark?

As you know, I am full time lawyer part time blogger. So when I see news that merge the two like this, my mouth waters. 

What is the first thing you think of when somebody says red soles? It's Christian Louboutin ("Louboutin"). Which is exactly why the designer and his company is fighting like crazy to protect its red sole. 

For those who don't remember, let me give you a quick summary. After years of applying and applying Louboutin finally got its trademark application approved in 2008. According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, this trademark will mean that you cannot produce shoes with red soles if you're not Louboutin. This is exactly why Louboutin sued the Pinault-Printemps-Redoute ("PPR") company and one of the most popular luxury brands Yves Saint Laurent America ("YSL"). The court case, is about YSL producing shoes with red soles and Louboutin wanting to put a stop to it. The brand even asked for a preliminary injunction (with which the court would demand YSL to stop producing red sole shoes until the case was decided). However, the judge declined Louboutin's request which leads me to think that Louboutin might be facing a harsh decision.

So I decided to make a list for my readers. I know you might think these pieces are too expensive, but that's exactly why we call them investments.

Our good old Evil Eye has become the thing of the it girls

In Turkey having an evil eye bracelet, ring or a necklace is normal. We put them on to protect ourselves from the looks of others (i.e. from the evil eye). It is quite a Turkish thing so imagine my surprise when I saw my favorite blogger Leandre Medine of the Man Repeller with evil eye bracelets and also Chira Ferragni of the Blonde Salad bejeweling herself with evil eyes during her trip in İstanbul. Cute! :)

Two nights ago, a friend of my dad's had one of the coolest rings I had ever seen. (and also a vintage Chloe clutch that I will show in the previous post :)) I asked where she got it from and she told me that it was a Zeynep Erol design. Unfortunately, (maybe because of my lack of interest or just of my ignorance) I did not know what kind of jewellery she makes. So I looked her up. And I really liked some of her designs. Here you go :) oh and her website is here.

Emma Stone is one of those celebrities that I love. First of all, she is very talented. But talent aside, she is very beautiful and also very stylish. You don't see her making fashion mistakes that often. Which is a very good thing if you're a celebrity. However, she managed to put on this ugly dress for the Beverly Hills premiere of The Help. The top I'm fine with, if you're wearing it to a dinner date. But the skirt is too baggy and makes her look like she is heavier. It looks as though she wrapped my curtain or even worse, my bed sheet.

(Emma Stone çok beğendiğim ünlülerden biri. Öncelikle çok yetenekli. Ama yetenek bir yana, çok güzel ve çok tarz. Moda hatası pek fazla yapmıyor ve eğer ünlü biriyseniz bu çok önemli birşey. Ama The Help filminin Beverly Hills premier'ine bu çirkin elbiseyi giymeyi başarmış. Elbisenin üstü eğer onu bluz gibi bir akşam yemeğine giyerseniz kötü değil. Ama etek çok bol ve onu çok şişman göstermiş. Sanki perdemi ya da daha kötüsü çarşafımı beline sarmış gibi duruyor.)

First of all, I would like to thank the girl who inspired me to write this post. I was feeling down lately and even though there are many ideas floating in my lovely head, I just couldn't find a topic. Then I saw her. Wait. Let's start from the beginning. I looked at my daily blogs and websites. Then I said to myself, "Let me go through lookbook.nu." which I hardly ever do. Anyway, I was going through the pics. And when I do that, I tend to also read their names and tags. So, it's kind of like blogger, blogger, blogger, fashionista, blogger etc. There is more than a million fashion bloggers out there (including myself) and I respect each and every one of them. Except for some. So, let me go back to the story. There was this picture of a girl. She tagged herself as fashion blogger. Let me paint you her outfit (because I'm not going to post it here that would be plain rude). She was wearing spaghetti strap maxi dress in green and had an pink Balenciaga City bag. You might think what's wrong with that. Nothing is wrong. If you're going to the grocery store or to the hair saloon. But you don't wear that and take a picture and put it on lookbook AND call yourself a fashion blogger. That outfit you're wearing is clothes NOT fashion. If you're calling yourself a fashion blogger, you need to be able to distinguish that. 

Now you might say, Merve, if your outfits are really cool why don't you post them. Well me not posting does not mean if I ever post, it will be me wearing a stupid outfit and calling it cool.

What bag to buy for the season to come!

Yesterday, Nazlı raised a question. And a very good one might I add. We discussed what bags we should use and/or buy for the season to come. She is a blogger just like me and is very into fashion as well. So I knew she had a point and I looked at my closet. My bag are currently out of date! (Except for the lovely Balenciaga A4 that I bought and having a love affair with). Anyhow, I decided to make a list of bags to buy for the season to come and I put my favorites for each style.

First of all, make sure that you have a mini purse. We are past the large hobo and we have now arrived to mini shoulder bag.

Then, get a shoulder bag with chain strap. You can either go all the way and buy yourself a Chanel bag or buy one of the other brands' chain strap bags.

You should also get a big clutch. And make sure it is colorful. If you say you're not the colorful (:)) type, at least get it in earth tones.

If you have too much make up to fit in the above bags, then get a tote with triple color. Yes, last year it was double color now it is triple. So, I suggest you get one.

And, if you say I want to go with an old friend, then just get a satchel (click for the post).

Oh, whatever you choose, choose wisely and always be original!

Öncelikle, kendinize mini bir çanta almanız lazım. Kocaman hobo çanta evresini çoktan geçtik ve mini çantalara geldik. 

Sonra, bir de zincir saplı çanta alın. İsterseniz sonuna kadar abartıp bir Chanel çanta alabilirsiniz veya daha farklı markaları da deneyebilirsiniz.

Bir de büyük bir el çantası almanız lazım. Ve bu çantanın renkli olmasına da özen gösterin. Eğer ben pek renk sevmem diyorsanız, o zaman en azından toprak tonlarında bir model seçin. 

Eğer yukarda saydığım çantalara makyajım sığmaz diyorsanız, o zaman üç renkli tote model çanta alın kendinize. Geçen sene totelar iki renkti bu sene üç renk olmalı.Almanızı öneririm.

Ve eğer illaki eski arkadaşlarınıza sadık kalıcaksanız, o zaman bir satchel almanızı öneriyorum (önceki post için tık).

I told you before (click for the previous post), the glitter Miu Miu booties are going to be a hit this year. They are already in every spread. Miu Miu made them in various colors and also made them in suede instead of glitter. See the shoot in Elle Turkey August below and look closely for the shoes :)

I did not like the black ones but I think I'm slowly falling in love with the pink ones. And the yellow ones.

Let me tell you, I honestly don't like to post a lot about celebrities as I really don't want my blog to be about them. But in situations like this I just can't keep my mouth shut. Maybe it's been a long time, I haven't been paying attention to celebs lately, but apparently Dianna Agron got a haircut. And might I say she shouldn't have. She used to look so good with her long blonde hair. It's just a damn waste.
